A Word From Our Pastor

Dear Saints in Christ at FBC, Paintsville:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ! I pray this edition of The INFORMER finds you well and growing in the knowledge of our Lord!
How is it going as you read through the Bible this year? Are you seeing new things, different things, amazing things in the Word? Are you behind in reading, having trouble staying caught up? Don’t give up! The point is not to say that you read the Bible this year! The point is that you are spending time in the Word on a regular basis.
Daily, frequent time alone with God in His Word is absolutely essential for our continued growth in the Lord, the daily fight against the flesh, and the much needed filling of the Spirit! How are we to grow in the Lord if we are not growing in our understanding of the Lord? How can we fight the flesh today if we have not nurtured our spirit? How can we be filled with the Spirit of the Lord today if we have not communed with the Lord? You simply cannot get around it. To walk with the Lord is to sit at His feet in His Word!
It is water to our thirsty souls that are parched from the daily heat of temptation. It is refreshment to our weary minds that have battled and stressed and wandered in thoughts. It is correction for the waywardness of our own thinking and judgment. It is food for our faith that so easily becomes malnourished. It is a source of spiritual joy amidst the daily pressure and strain of life. It is our guide for every single matter in life.
If the Word is not a regular part of your day or your family’s schedule, look at all you have been missing! Don’t let another day slip by without it!
As you continue spending time in God’s Word or as you begin spending time with God, we want to share with one another the blessings and lessons we have enjoyed! On Saturday, March 27, we will hold our first “Wonders in the Word” fellowship from 9am-2pm. From 9-12, you may come to the church, enjoy a cup of coffee, find a quiet spot, and catch up on your reading. At 12 we will enjoy a light lunch together, and then spend the final hour sharing with one another the blessings of God’s Word in our lives! You may come for only the lunch and discussion if you like!
I look forward to seeing you then. And don’t forget to follow along with our reading at www.wondersintheword.blogspot.com.

Blessings!
Pastor Wil

From Our Minister of Students
Greetings Brothers and Sisters in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ:

In the month of February, the youth were on mission to gladly serve the body of Christ. We hosted a Valentine's Day Banquet. The students were dressed in matching attire and served those in attendance. The menu consisted of spaghetti, salad, and red velvet cake. JD, Wilnah, and Andrea prepared the meal, and the youth served it. Pastor Wil gave a devotional from                        1 Corinthians 13. After the devotion, we gave out door prizes.

Ending the banquet, David and Michelle Grub agreed to play a game called "How Well Do You Know Your Significant Other?" They were good sports. For their participation, they were rewarded with a gift card from Bob Evans. The gathering was a good time of sharing in fellowship.

The youth would like to thank our church for their prayers and support. Please continue to pray for our youth as they grow and mature in Christ.

Also, please pray for an opportunity that we have to serve in campus ministry. Starting Wednesday March 3rd, our church will offer a meal and a devotion to the students and faculty on the Mayo campus. Pray for Bro. Bob Bowman as he delivers the word.

I will be praying that the Lord will speak to the hearts of our congregation to help support this ministry. God is opening the doors of outreach for student ministry by His grace and for His glory.

In His service,
Pastor Roger

You Can Find IT Here!
KBC’s “Find it Here” is a campaign to deliver the Gospel to 1.5 million households across Kentucky in the weeks leading up to Easter Sunday 2010.
It is part of the GPS initiative of the North American Mission Board aimed at fulfilling the Great Commission in North America by 2020.
As a part the "Find It Here" project the Pastor is asking for volunteers to prayer walk the city of Paintsville in the month before Easter.
If you would like to be a part of this, please find a partner with which to prayerwalk, and call or e-mail the church office to let us know about your participation before Wednesday, March 5, so we can have the assignments ready to go by that evening. It is important that we know how many teams will participate, so we know how to divide up the map.

Annie Armstrong Easter Offering
The Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® is much more than an offering envelope and an annual missions-giving emphasis. When people give to the offering, 100 percent of their gift will be transformed into missionary salaries and ministry supplies. Those missionaries and supplies will help others hear the message of Christ and respond in faith to His offer of salvation. Time and again our missionaries relate how the offering is their lifeblood. They know that behind each penny given, there is a Southern Baptist who believes in what they do and are affirming the need to equip them to share the gospel with those who need a Savior.
Who is Annie? Each year, we honor the life and work of Annie Walker Armstrong (1850-1938) when we give to the annual offering for North American missions named after her. As a tireless servant of God and a contagious advocate and supporter of mission efforts throughout the world, Annie Armstrong led women to unite in mission endeavors that ultimately led to the formation of Woman's Missionary Union, for which she served as the first corresponding secretary.
Annie believed in Christ with all her heart, but it was her hands that expressed that belief in tangible ways. She spent a great amount of time typing and handwriting letters in support of missions. Many of these letters were quite lengthy and all were filled with conviction that more could and should be done in our mission efforts.  In 1893 alone, she wrote almost 18,000 letters! Annie also never hesitated to use her hands to reach out to hug a child or distribute food and clothing and the Word of God to those in need. Her hands held her own Bible as she studied to know how best to share Gods love with others. And, most important, Annie was a woman of prayer, folding her hands in prayer to intercede for the missionaries and for those they were helping discover Christ.
Annie rallied churches to give more, pray more, and do more for reaching people for Christ. As we continue to unite to make her vision a reality in North America today, we can be confident that her legacy will also be ours. Please use your Annie Armstrong Easter Offering envelope provided in your box of numbered offering envelopes or look for one in the pew rack.
